Teaching children how to care for an amstaff

The Staffordshire Terrier is a wonderful family companion. But before you take a puppy, you must carefully consider whether this breed is right for you, whether the dog will fit into the existing lifestyle of your family. It is also very important to prepare children for buying an amstaff puppy. This will allow you to ensure the safety of the puppy and everyone to enjoy communication.

The appearance of a puppy in the family is an exciting event for children. But your duty is to explain to them the rules of conduct with a small amstaff. Children must understand that a puppy is not a living toy, and that it is necessary to be extremely careful with him.

The rules are simple:
- Always watch the play of children and small amstaff
- Do not let your children play catch-up with the amstaff
- Don't let your child pull the toy out of the puppy's teeth
- Do not let children squeeze the puppy too tightly
- Teach children how to properly lift a puppy (you need to put an open palm under the puppy's stomach, and with the other hand support his hind legs)
- Do not allow children to disturb the puppy while sleeping and eating
- When the puppy gets tired of playing together, provide him with the opportunity to retire.

It is useful to study the stages of development of the American Staffordshire Terrier (can be read here), understanding will give you answers to many questions about the behavior of the puppy and will allow you to create a favorable environment for the puppy to grow and interact with your children. When you form in children an understanding of the important role they play for the safety of a puppy, you will thereby form in them a sense of responsibility.

Your efforts will not be in vain, because the Staffordshire Terrier will become a loving and caring family member, a true friend and a great companion for children.
